Blast From the Past

As I typically do when I'm off the road, I was perusing my news feeds this morning when a familiar name popped up:

"Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan, an Independent, previously criticized offshore wind plans in the area, warning of tourism repercussions and that the Atlantic sunrise would 'look like a backdrop from ‘Star Wars’."

Rick Meehan? Still the Mayor of Ocean City? Since 2006?

The same Rick Meehan that starred in one of my favorite tourism commercials of all time...and, let's be clear, I am not a fan of elected officials appearing in tourism ads. But Rick's Shattner-esque delivery in this spot, urging visitors to book their vacations before the end of the world, was priceless.
